After 4 months of grueling competition with auditions in June this year, Fendi & By Definition have finally tasted the rewards of their hard work. As winners of Live The Dream, they walk away with $100,000 cash combined and also get to play at their own concert showcase!

Performing to a crowd of more than 700 people tonight, the final two soloists Fendi and Victor Tang, and groups By Definition and CatsineCradle took to the stage to vie for the coveted title of the champions of Live the Dream.

At stake was the prize money of $40,000 for the winning soloist and $60,000 for the group, plus the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of a concert showcase up for grabs.

And the winners after a nationwide vote are crowd pleasers Fendi and By Definition. Giving electrifying performances, the two got the all-round nod of approval from judges Ken Lim, Dick Lee and guest judges 881’s songwriter Eric Ng and singer-songwriter Corrinne May throughout their one-and-a-half hours performance show.

Backed by a boisterous crowd who went all out to show their support for their favourites, the Top 4 no doubt pulled out all the stops to wow the judges and the television audience. For the studio audience, it felt like the Top 4 performances did not matter. Whatever they did was priceless in the eyes of their fans, friends and family.

Seated next to the family and supporters of CatsineCradle was literally, ear-splitting, and we exited the studio some three hours later, nearly deaf. Enthusiastic and loud throughout the show, the noise from them eventually died down soon as the results were announced that Cats failed to snare that winning title and $60,000 prize money.

Another reason why the audience was so wild and deafening this week was very likely because of the special guests who graced the stage tonight – The Click Five, Taufik Batisah, and the Papaya Sisters. Also, our favourite Top 10 contestants who have been eliminated came back once again to perform, and also to show their support for the remaining guys, whom they have grown close to over the weeks.

The first of the special guests to perform was our very own and first Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah. Appearing all suave and dashing in a white jacket over black tee with a pair of white pants,
Taufik showed the audience how much he has improved since his days on Singapore Idol with his slick dance moves and ease grooving on stage.

Taking the stage after Taufik were the Papaya Sisters, who were dressed in white and glimmery short dresses. Despite being all energetic and bubbly, the girls didn’t seem to be very successful with engaging the audience and the whole performance just seemed rather out of place.

Fans of Live The Dream contestants eliminated earlier on received a special treat when the Top 10 reunited to perform on stage.

Stopping by in town as the opening act in The Black Eyed Peas’ concert in Singapore, Boston band The Click Five got the temperature soaring and the crowd on their feet when they performed their hit songs Empty and Jenny. Their fans who were considerably quiet suddenly burst out into high-pitch shrieks when the band came on stage.

But the night certainly belonged to winners Fendi and By Definition. When the solo results were announced, an overwhelmed Fendi cupped his face in his hands as cheers were heard all around. Tears of happiness welled up in the eyes of Fendi's mum as the proud mother was left speechless with joy when host Andrea Fonseka tried to interview her.

Indeed as Ken Lim quipped, “It’s time for Shrek 2.”
